Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A stunning flask formed from translucent blue-green glass and boasting a dazzling iridescence of sparkling rainbow hues with speckles of gold and silver throughout. The beautiful vessel presents a piriform body with a cylindrical neck, and a flared rim, all sitting upon a flat base. Size: 2.2" Diameter x 4.1" H (5.6 cm x 10.4 cm)
This precious little bottle is a link to the opulence of a wealthy Roman household. This vessel was used to store aromatics oils and perfumes coveted by elite Roman society, and was probably used by a lady of high fashion for her toilette.
