Walter Goetz (German born British, 1911-1995), "London in the Season" original color lithograph poster, published by Baynard Press, 1938. A wonderful, original, lithograph in colors poster depicting the London skyline as well as graphic homage to the cultural activities that London had to offer in the early 20th century. The artwork was created by Walter Goetz, a German-born British illustrator as well as cartoonist whose delightful perspectives on the English and Anglo-French relations entertained audiences via his Daily Express cartoon strips "Colonel Up and Mr. Down" and "Dab and Flounder" (1934-54) and in Pierre Danino’s "Major Thompson" books (1954-57). The Baynard Press, established in 1894 by F Sanders Phillips, employed craftsmen of considerable skill such as Thomas Griffits, advanced the practice of color lithography, and printed many of London Transport's pictorial posters. Size: 24.75" W x 39.75" H (62.9 cm x 101 cm)
