Francisco Dosamantes (Mexican, 1911-1986). "Mayan Landscape" lithograph, 1947. Edition 250. A woman at the doorway to the home closest to the viewer greets a young man who is dismounting his burro. This work stems from Dosamantes' involvement with "indigenismo" movement among early Modern Mexican artists. Dosamantes created a series of lithographs depicting the lives of rural Maya in Campeche which have earned well-deserved recognition and have been acquired by numerous public and private collections.
