Yu Qi-hui (Chinese, b. 1934) "West Lake in Autumn" watercolor woodblock print, 1983. Hand numbered 3/30. An accomplished artist as well as author of "The Technique of Chinese Water Print", Yu Qi-hui is known for creating woodblock prints with a technique that results in works that look like watercolors. Yu Qi-hui developed what is known as the "dab technique" in the 1990s - marrying conventional printmaking techniques with water soluble pigments. His subjects are usually beautiful landscapes including rivers or mountains; this scene features a woman raking golden leaves that have fallen from the trees in autumn. It is hand-signed, numbered, dated, and titled - and set in an attractive, abstract bamboo patterned frame. A professor in the print department of Zhejiang Fine Art Academy, Yu Qi-hui's artworks have been exhibited in numerous Chinese national art expositions as well as exhibitions in France, the United States, Japan, and Canada. His artworks have also been collected by fine museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, Stanford University, the Chinese Fine Art Museum, the Japan Kanagawa Museum, and the Luxun Print Museum in Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen and Shaoxing.

Condition
Print has not been examined outside the frame but appears to be in excellent condition. Slight tears to gallery paper on verso. Minor scuffs to frame, but otherwise excellent. Wired for suspension and ready to display.
