An abstract composition in black and yellow delineated in Hochberg's signature style with a simultaneously bold and elegant gestural approach that conveys organic, non-objective forms. Rick Bretell, Director of the Dallas Museum of Art, drew parallels between Hochberg's work and that of Joan Mitchell, Helen Frankenthaler and Lee Krasner in a 2016 review. The piece is titled, signed, and dated by the artist and set in museum quality framing. The late female Abstract Expressionist artist Zanne Hochberg had a long career that included a solo retrospective exhibition at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts in 2011. Her work has been collected by the Dallas Museum of Art and the Blanton Museum of Art. Born in Rochester, New York, Hochberg moved to Dallas in 1953, earned her MFA at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and continued her painting career with a home base of Dallas until her death in 2001.
