Tadas Zaicikas (Lithuanian, b. 1974). "Michael Jordan - Between Colors" (2022). Acrylic, acrylic-based spray paints, and ink on carton and wood frame. Signed by the artist on the lower left. A striking painting of NBA legend Michael Jordan by contemporary artist Tadas Zaicikas (also known as TedyZet) whose works have been meteorically rising in value (see Saatchi Art listings). In this painting, Zaicikas capture's Air Jordan's explosive athleticism, rendering MJ mid-air and about to dunk a basketball. Jordan wears his iconic red, black, and white Chicago Bull's uniform and is surrounded by mesmerizing layers of color: spray-painted dynamic swirls of vibrant purple, yellow, black, and coppery brown; palpable paint drips of red, black, and copper hues; eye-catching stenciled black checkerboard passages below; and captivating graffiti-like scrawls of "Michael"and "Jordan" with a crown for "His Airness." A magical fusion of painterly Neo-Expressionism and bold street art that continues over the frame, Zaicikas' homage to The GOAT is extraordinary! Size: 32.625" L x 26.5" W (82.9 cm x 67.3 cm)
Tadas Zaicikas was born in Lithuania but has lived and worked in Canada, the United Kingdom, and France. He received his Master's degree from KTU in Lithuania in 1996 and has exhibited in Canada, the United States, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and South Korea. This award-winning artist recently received Contemporary Art Curator Magazine's Power of Creativity Art Prize (2021) and has been the subject of many favorable reviews such as Marie Agnes Moller's "Tadas Zaicikas- Declarations of Love!" in ART & Design, March-April-May 2022.
