Woodruff Marbury Somervell (American, 1872-1938). "On the flats, Wilmington, California" Ca. 1925. Etching on laid paper. Edition 17/100. A charming etching by Woodruff Marbury Somervell, who was known for his etchings as well as architecture and landscape paintings. This composition presents the waterfront of Wilmington, California in the harbor region of Los Angeles, a charming scene dotted with several marine vessels. Handwritten below the platemark is "17/100 - On the flats, Wilmington, Calif. - Marbury Somervell" Size of image (plate mark): 5.3" W x 4.5" H (13.5 cm x 11.4 cm) Size of frame: 9.625" W x 8.875" H (24.4 cm x 22.5 cm)
Provenance: private Los Angeles County, California, USA collection, acquired by descent from the owner's father, collection amassed between 1950-1990

#136000Etching has not been examined outside the frame. The image appears to be quite vivid with "17/100 - On the flats, Wilmington, Calif. - Marbury Somervell" handwritten below the platemark. Frame has some scuffs/nicks to the finish, but is otherwise intact and wired for suspension.Condition
