Ned Bittinger (American, b. 1951). "They Raced Seattle Slew" 1997. Hand signed, hand titled, and hand numbered 24/200 below the image. A large-scale print depicting a dynamic homage to Seattle Slew by American artist Ned Bittinger. The scene takes place in a child's bedroom, presumably that of the blond-haired boy riding his rocking horse with his puppy running beside him and his teddy ber and blanket in tow. Above the boy is Seattle Slew and his jockey (Jean Cruguet or later Angel Cordero) with another race horse emerging through the window - quite a dream sequence! Seattle Slew was an American Thoroughbred race horse who became the tenth of thirteen horses to win the Triple Crown in 1977. Bittinger's realist style is imbued with a distinct liveliness. His influences include John Singer Sargent and N.C. Wyeth. In addition to painting such figurative scenes, Bittinger is an award winning portrait painter. Size of image: 26.75" W x 14" H (67.9 cm x 35.6 cm) Size of frame: 28.25" W x 16.125" H (71.8 cm x 41 cm)
