H. Sebron. "Les Chutes du Niagara, Le Fer a Cheval" (Niagara Falls, The Horse Shoe). Handcolored aquatint engraving, 1852. Published by William Schaus - Goupil & Co. Engraved by Salathe. A breathtaking and very large panoramic view of Niagara Falls. In addition to the awe-inspiring falls, the scene is full of theatrical excitement. Notice the horse and carriage in the foreground, the spectators oohing and aahing at the falls, and the dashing couple at the lower left - perhaps on their honeymoon - the groom wearing a top hat and tails, the bride in a flowing pink dress and blue bonnet. This is a coveted engraving with aquatint that is currently listed at The Old Print Gallery, Washington D.C. for $7,000, without the custom framing embellishing this example.
