Contemporary American Pastel. Signed on lower right - Signature seems to read "P. Coutille" but it is difficult to discern. A stunning pastel landscape depicting a picturesque scene in the American West. Native trees and shrubs dot the golden lands in the foreground; more verdant foliage lines the riverbank in the middle distance; and beyond this are is an exquisite range of blue ridge mountains. Above it all is a stunning golden sky. The artist of this piece clearly has a strong command over the pastel medium. Note the wonderful passages of skillful blending, feathering, and scumbling in this composition. A gorgeous artwork - perfect for anyone who appreciates landscapes of the American West - set in a custom frame under glass. Size: 11" L x 17.5" W (27.9 cm x 44.4 cm) Size of frame: 18.375" L x 24.75" W (46.7 cm x 62.9 cm)
