Pre-Columbian, Ancient Andes, Moche, Chimu, and Inca, ca. 500 to 1500 CE. A collection of six metal foil items from the ancient highland and coastal kingdoms of Peru, alongside eight tupus, pins for fastening cloaks, each topped by a decorative metal item. Describing the foil items first, from top to bottom: a 72% gold (equivalent to 15K+) foil strip with cinnabar coloring; a 99% copper pectoral with a relief sun face on it; a 66% gold (equivalent to 15K+) foil strip with repeated repousse maize motifs; a 51% gold (equivalent to 12K+) foil strip colored with red cinnabar; a copper/silver alloy strip with stippled dots around its border; and a 97% silver crescent-shaped pectoral. Size of gold strip at top: 8.75" W x 1.1" H (22.2 cm x 2.8 cm); size of frame: 2.5" L x 12.25" W x 13" H (6.4 cm x 31.1 cm x 33 cm)

Condition
None of the pieces have been examined outside of the frame. All of the flat pieces are slightly bent, with some losses to the peripheries. Tupu pins are slightly bent as shown. Rich patina on all.
