European, late 19th to early 20th century. An antique genre painting set in Belgium or France, signed Gordon on the lower right corner and depicting a quaint village scene with townspeople going about their daily lives on a cobblestone street that is lined with charming architecture, stone walls, and trees. We see a woman dressed in her work clothes and a white bonnet heading down the street while holding her wares. Another woman is greeting a man at her doorway just ahead. To the far left is a young boy wearing a wide-brimmed hat, with one hand in his pocket and another possibly holding a fishing pole. Progressing down the cobblestone road in the opposite direction is a man riding his wagon with another gentleman following behind. Finally, upon close examination, we see the backs of a woman and child in the distance. A magnificent antique genre painting set in an ornate, gold-toned frame. Size: 10" L x 8" W (25.4 cm x 20.3 cm)

Condition
Painting is in very good condition. Minor age wear with a few stains and scuffs that are difficult to discern. It is signed "Gordon" on the lower right. Frame shows some age wear with abrasions/losses to corners and high-pointed areas, but is otherwise very nice. Wired for suspension and ready to display.
