East Asia, China, early Qing Dynasty, ca. 17th to 18th century CE. A wonderful ensemble of 4 sizable wooden sculptures of Daoist deities, each adorned in a towering headdress and flowing red robes while holding a court official's rank tablet or another object to the chest with both hands. Size of largest (dark face): 15.5" L x 13" W x 33.4" H (39.4 cm x 33 cm x 84.8 cm)
Provenance: private Los Angeles, California, USA collection, acquired from 1990 to 2005

All have some chipping, nicks, and abrasions as shown with stable fissures to wood commensurate with age. Otherwise, nice presentation with good remains of pigments and trace remains of gilding.
