Ancient Seas, Lower Cambrian to late Permian, ca. 520 to 250 million years ago. This is a gorgeous and wearable pendant featuring a fossilized trilobite set in a sterling silver bezel. The trilobite is of the Proetida genus, and has the "classic" trilobite ovoid shape, with the headshield flush against the side. The surface is a lustrous black with the ridges of the thorax segments and slight bump of the eye facets nicely preserved. The sterling silver bezel is open on the verso, showing some of the underside features of this "sea bug" fossil. The pendant has a bail at the top and is strung on a cord with a lobster clasp, as a wearable piece of prehistoric jewelry. Size: 1.75" L x 1" W (4.4 cm x 2.5 cm); cord: 21" L (53.3 cm); silver quality: 92%; weight 8.2 grams
