Latin America, Mexico, ca. 20th to 21st century CE. A unique pendant made from a fossilized shark tooth set into a modern sterling silver mount with a Mexican fire opal cabochon. The pendant is strung on a leather cord, but could easily be strung on a chain as one desired. The opaque surface of the fire opal is heavily polished with a transparent "window" in the center that shows the interior matrix of the stone and scattered rainbow flashes. Size of pendant: 2.5" L x 1.375" W (6.4 cm x 3.5 cm); cord: 27" L (68.6 cm); silver quality: 93.1%; weight 24.3 grams
