**First Time At Auction**
Latin America, Mexico, ca. 20th to 21st century CE. A unique pendant made from a fossilized shark tooth set into a modern sterling silver mount with a Mexican fire opal cabochon. The silversmith added spiraling wires, feather, and granulated appliques around the ovoid bezel. The opaque, pink surface of the fire opal is heavily polished with a milky-blue streak and flashes of green across the stone. The pendant is strung on a leather cord but could easily be strung on a chain as one desired. Size of pendant: 2.8" L x 1.88" W (7.1 cm x 4.8 cm); cord: 21" L (53.3 cm); silver quality: 95.35%; weight: 42.5 grams
