North America, Western United States, Mesozoic era, ca. 252 to 66 million years ago A fossilized dinosaur bone, polished to show off the amazing transformation - not just turning to stone but into colorful agate. Silica based permineralization will sometimes result in agate - a rare type of fossilization that is truly beautiful! This was part of the humerus leg bone, and purportedly from a Brontosaurus, a species of Sauropods that were "long-necked" herbivores that lived during the late Jurassic period. Size: 8.7" W x 11.5" H (22.1 cm x 29.2 cm)
