Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 2.6 million years ago. A lovely example of a fossilized tooth from one of the ancient seas' most ferocious hunters: the megalodon shark. The triangular enamel features a polished obverse that exhibits gray and beige peripheries - along with dozens of tactile serrations - as well as the dark brown and black hues of the interior enamel matrix. The broad bourlette exhibits several vertical striations commensurate with fossilization, and the khaki and ochre root bears a few petite perforations made by boring clams. Size: 3.15" W x 4.4" H (8 cm x 11.2 cm)
