North America, Northern United States, Alaska, Pleistocene (Ice Age), ca. 100,000 to 10,000 years ago; Eastern Europe / Northern Asia, Russia, Siberia, Pleistocene (Ice Age), ca. 100,000 to 10,000 years ago. This is an amazing collection of 6 fossilized and preserved pieces from prehistoric animals, including a woolly rhinoceros tooth and woolly mammoth ivory, teeth, and hairs! The ivory fragment is from a tusk; the layers of cementum has developed a mottled brown and blue-gray hue and the inner dentine is exposed. The tuft of fur is from the body of a mammoth that was preserved in the ice for thousands of years; the lengthy hairs demonstrate the insulation these animals needed to survive. The 3 teeth are molars that are cut and polished on one face to show the fossilized internal structures. The last tooth on the stand is from a woolly rhino. Size of largest: 11.25" L x 1.5" W (28.6 cm x 3.8 cm)
