Western Europe, probably England or France, Neoclassical Period, ca. early 19th century CE. A fine group of 4 hand-carved stone cabochons and one glass cabochon that would certainly be attractive when set into a ring. Fourth is an opaque, black-hued glass cabochon with a faint incised image. The largest carnelian intaglio bears an abstract and intricate curvilinear motif with sinuous tendrils and a crosshatched central body. Size of largest (curvilinear motif): 0.6" L x 0.5" W (1.5 cm x 1.3 cm); quality of silver: 94%
