- Lot Description
Classical World, Eastern Mediterranean, Phoenician, ca. mid-1st century BCE; Europe, ca. 19th century CE. A fabulous gathering of 17 Phoenician and 18 nineteenth-century European glass beads, all strung on modern strand with a brass toggle clasp to be wearable. The Phoenician beads all present barrel or spherical forms and boast vibrant hues of pink, yellow, blue, green, orange, and white. Alternatively, the nineteenth-century beads display either barrel or segmented form in lustrous shades of gold. Beautifully arranged in an alternating pattern, these wonderful beads are a gorgeous example of ancient art and modern style! Size (necklace): 17.75" L (45.1 cm); Size (largest bead): 0.625" L x 0.75" in diameter (1.6 cm x 1.9 cm)
Provenance: private Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA collection, acquired in 1996 via inheritance in Hollywood, Florida, USA
