Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, reign of Thutmose III, ca. 1479 to 1425 BCE. A mold-formed faience scarab covered in light blue glaze that bears the cartouche of Pharaoh Thutmose III (also Thutmosis III or Thothmes III). The insectile features on the topside are nicely preserved as are the incised hieroglyphs on the base including the cartouche reading Men-Kheper-Re ("Lasting is the Manifestation of Re"). The ancient scarab is set into the bezel of a modern 21K gold pendant setting, and the entire setting is suspended from a modern necklace strand. Size (scarab): 0.6" L x 0.44" W x 0.3" H (1.5 cm x 1.1 cm x 0.8 cm); (pendant setting): 1.3" L x 0.65" W (3.3 cm x 1.7 cm); gold quality: 87.8% (equivalent to 21K+); total weight: 4.5 grams

Wearable as shown and constructed in modern times. Scarab is ancient; gold setting and necklace strand are modern. Very light abrasions and fading to glaze pigment, otherwise intact and excellent. Great preservation to finer details, hieroglyphs, and cartouche.
