- Lot Description
Ancient Near East, Constantinople, Byzantine Empire, ca. 10th to 13th century CE. A fine pair of matching bangles formed from several thick silver wires which are braided together in a rough, three-sided presentation. The terminal of each bracelet is capped with a cylindrical sleeve with an attached locking bulb on one end and an ovoid loop on the other. The small loop is inserted into the locking bulb and secured with a small pin. Covered in lustrous green and brown patina, this is a wonderful and wearable set of ancient silver jewelry! Size (bracelet): 2.875" Diameter (7.3 cm); size (wrist opening): 2.25" H (5.7 cm); quality of silver: 90%; total weight: 94.8 grams.
