Thomas Bowles (1712-1767) was a map publisher and seller in London. The business was continued by John and Carrington Bowles and finally under the name Bowles and Carver until early 19th century. The successful partnership of (Henry) Carington Bowles II (1763-ca. 1830; son of Carington Bowles I, q.v.) and Samuel Carver (q.v.), continued the Bowles business in St. Paul's Churchyard, London from 1793 until 1832. In the year 1818, Bowles built Myddelton House in Enfield. One may find a view of the shop when known as Bowles and Carver in Thomas Hornor's "Prospectus: View of London and the surrounding country", 1823 (reproduced in D. Hodson, County Atlases of the British Isles, 1984).
