Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Greater Chiriqui, Diquis, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. We have handled a great number of Pre-Columbian gold. I have handled probably 500 pieces of Pre-Columbian gold myself. By an incredibly wide margin this is by far the finest, and most impressive example I have ever handled. Yes, I have seen larger examples in major museums, but most people will never have the luxury of seeing let alone owning such an amazing piece. Over 13 ounces of pure gold cast into a massive pendant. Size: 6.5" W x 4" H (16.5 cm x 10.2 cm); gold quality: 84.5 to 87.5% (equivalent to over 20 to 21 karats); weight: 389 grams
Two deities emerge from the huge tooth of a jaguar, each with doubled strands of gold possibly showing facial hair and curly locks of hair on their respective heads, Their ears sport large curled spools with outer hands grabbing at stylistic tumi, ends which sport bells with gold balls still in place and creating a lovely high-pitched ring. Reverse shows two suspension rings, each with anticipated wear along top edge from being worn in ancient days, certainly for ceremonial purposes and display of power and wealth. An object of such size and weight would have been reserved for royalty.

Jaguars are often represented in the art of ancient Central America and was revered for its power, stealth, and agility. Jaguars played a large role in the mythology of the peoples of ancient America and were often deified as members of the pantheon of gods.
