Western Europe, France, Chaumont-Sur-Loire, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely ensemble of 8 porcelain dishes, each of circular form with a shallow central basin and raised walls that flare outwards to an undulating periphery, all enveloped in a lustrous white glaze. Seven of these fine dishes present with ring-shaped bases and are adorned with a diademed animal at the center surrounded by 3 fleur-de-lis and 3 leaf-like symbols as well as many abstract decorative elements in hues of blue, yellow, red, brown, green, orange, and black. Three of the 7 feature a porcupine, the symbol of king Louis XII, while 2 feature an ermine and the last pair show a green dragon. All 7 are inscribed with "CHAUMONT-SUR-LOIRE" on their bases. The eighth plate is embellished with green and black decoration of a dog amongst floral motifs. Size (of largest): 9.4" in diameter x 1.4" H (23.9 cm x 3.6 cm)

Condition
"CHAUMONT-SUR-LOIRE" inscribed on base of 7 plates. Stable hairline fissures to 5 pieces. Chips to a few. All have nicks and abrasions, commensurate with age. Otherwise, all are excellent with beautiful craquelure and nice remaining pigments.
