Ancient Egypt, Middle Kingdom to Second Intermediate Period, 12th to 17th Dynasty, ca. 1991 to 1550 BCE. A hand-built pottery female figure of highly stylized form shown standing atop fused legs. The woman presents nude with petite breasts and incised striations denoting her pubic area. Her coiffure is parted down the center with large bangs draped off either side of her minimalist facial features. Perhaps once worshipped as a fertility figure, this is an intriguing artifact from ancient Egypt. Size: 0.85" L x 1.61" W x 5.21" H (2.2 cm x 4.1 cm x 13.2 cm)
Cf. The Brooklyn Museum, accession number 77.49.
