- Lot Description
Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE. A mold-formed faience pendant of petite form depicting a majestic feline seated upon thick haunches atop an integral plinth. The curious cat supports its upper body with extended forelegs and has an integral suspension loop protruding from its upper back and lower neck. The visage is comprised of slender eyes, a condensed snout, and a pair of perky ears, and the entire composition is enveloped in a layer of seafoam green glaze.
