**First Time At Auction**
Egypt, Late Dynastic to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 664 to 30 BCE. A mold-formed faience figure depicting Pataikos, the bow-legged dwarf god meant as a protector deity and a mitigator of violent natural forces. The squat figure stands nude with thick legs and holds both hands to his protruding hips. His head showcases almond-shaped eyes, an upturned nose, puffy cheeks, cupped ears, and full lips, all beneath his bulging, slightly plateaued forehead. The back of his neck is fit with a petite suspension loop. Remains of blue-green glaze are visible across the figure and make for an attractive presentation! Size: 0.8" W x 1.6" H (2 cm x 4.1 cm)
