Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1069 to 664 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti covered in turquoise-hued glaze. The shabti stands in mummiform with fused feet and legs, holds the symbolic pick and hoe in hands crossed atop the chest, and has an incised seed bag draped across the back. The faded visage is composed of almond-shaped eyes, a broad nose, and smooth cheeks beneath a tripartite wig. A column of black-painted hieroglyphic symbols is presented atop the legs and, while untranslated, provides the name of the deceased. Size: 1.8" W x 4.9" H (4.6 cm x 12.4 cm); 6.2" H (15.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Repaired from multiple large pieces, with light restoration, resurfacing, and overpainting along break lines on lower body, and chipping on top of head. Minor chips to head, body, and legs, with fading and darkening to original pigmentation, and small pitting holes. Light earthen deposits throughout.
