Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi culture, ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A beautiful necklace comprised of two conjoined strands of modern oxidized silver with a loop and T-bar fastener combo on the terminals. The upper strand contains five spherical pottery spindle whorls, each displaying an abstract zoomorphic figure of either a reptilian or avian form. The lower strand droops below the upper strand and has a trio of pottery spindle whorls hanging on a drop pendant. Each spindle whorl has its details brought forth with applied white pigment within the recessed areas, making for a stylish and wearable accessory! Size (necklace): 18.25" L (46.4 cm); size (largest bead): 0.8" Diameter (2 cm).

Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Pottery spindle whorls are ancient while oxidized silver components are modern. Minor nicks to some spindle whorls, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits throughout.
