Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Baker Island, Inuit, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. This is a charming greenstone carving of a seal! This creature is alert and lounging with his tail and back flippers straight out from his body, and one front flipper protruding outward; the other flipper is drawn up against his side. His head extends outward, slightly tilted with a curious expression. His eyes are incised as wide circles with pupils and his rounded snout has nostrils and slightly open mouth. The stone itself is a truly beautiful choice, with mottled white and creamy veining throughout the olive green! Size: 10.75" L x 2.25" W x 2.5" H (27.3 cm x 5.7 cm x 6.4 cm)
