Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A mold-blown glass cup of a nearly colorless hue exhibiting a flat base, an inverted bell-shaped body, and a flared rim. A pair of concentric raised stripes along the lower body were formed in a mold cavity when the glassmaker was creating the overall shape of the vessel. Areas of thick, rainbow-hued iridescence cover the surfaces of this elegant cup. Size: 3.25" W x 3.1" H (8.3 cm x 7.9 cm)

Light abrasions and weathering film, with smooth encrustations mostly along basin and interior walls, micro-bubbling within glass matrix, and shallow but wide pitting in one large exterior area, otherwise intact and very good. Great earthen deposits and wonderful rainbow iridescence throughout. Old inventory label beneath base.
