Debra Hall (American, XX-XXI). Abstract glass wall sculpture, n.d. Signed at lower right. An impressively large fused glass wall sculpture by Debra Hall comprised of five pieces that fit together in a seamless manner to create a wonderful high relief composition and attach to a specially designed hanging system. Hall's process is both painstaking and imaginative. In her words, "Each piece is created by layering special glass in computer operated kilns and fusing together for 18 hours until it has melted together into one piece. The piece is then painted and fired again for 4 hours to set the paints." An inspired and unique work of glass art, presenting an abstract, flowing composition in a breathtaking array of colors with mesmerizing luminosity and iridescence. Truly exceptional and destined to make any space unforgettable! Size: 48.75" L x 37" W (123.8 cm x 94 cm)
Artist Statement: "Debra has been a lifelong artist with extensive background in composition and design. Her first specialty was watercolor painting, and for the last 15 years she has been developing her own process for working in glass, along with a hanging system for her larger pieces. Each piece is created by layering special glass in computer operated kilns and fusing together for 18 hours until it has melted together into one piece. The piece is then painted and fired again for 4 hours to set the paints. Debra Hall started her professional career as an artist in 1992. She quickly won numerous awards and sold many of her watercolors. In the late nineties, she became interested in glass work and started a new career in fused glass. She took her work to large art fairs throughout the United States and also was represented in many galleries, from Dallas to Minneapolis. Both her watercolors and fused glass currently hang in numerous private and corporate collections. Her work tells an abstract story that can be interpreted by the viewer and she is dedicated to making beautiful and original pieces that speak to all."
