- Lot Description
Michael Delaney (American, 20th century), a charcoal drawing of a Greek Geometric Horse sculpture, ca. late 20th to early 21st century. Signed at lower right. A wonderful rendering of a Greek Geometric horse presented in all its abstract glory - with the quintessential elegance and clarity of this minimalist form - an iconic example of Greek Geometric art. Note also how Delaney's use of chiaroscuro imbues this composition with a wonderful sense of modeling so as to capture the three dimensionality of a sculpture. Michael Delaney is a New York artist best known for his depictions of the human figure inspired by Renaissance masters. Size: 26.25" L x 19" W (66.7 cm x 48.3 cm)
Delaney studied with Wolf Kahn at the American Academy of Art and Max Ginsberg at the Art Students League.
