Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima culture, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely handmade ceramic figure of flat form depicting a standing female wearing a patterned skirt, a thick belt, a beaded necklace, a square headdress, a bulbous septum adornment, and annular earspools. Displaying wide shoulders, the figure bends both arms at the elbows to rest her hands on her chest, holding a petite pointed object. She gazes forward from incised, almond-shaped eyes above a pinched nose and small mouth. Her skirt, belt, and headdress are elaborately embellished by remains of red and black pigments, as well as incised striations creating lovely linear patterns. Size: 3.4" W x 6.3" H (8.6 cm x 16 cm)
