East Asia, China, late Sui Dynasty to early Tang Dynasty, ca. late 6th to early 7th century CE. A charming ceramic figure of a standing woman with a pale yellow-green, smooth glaze over her entire surface. This figure was made to be placed into a tomb and probably represents a courtier, with her long dress and elaborate coiffure giving us a good idea of how elite people dressed during this time period.
