East Asia, China, Eastern Han Dynasty, ca. 25 BCE to 220 CE. This rare nephrite jade carving features a standing figure, possibly an acrobat, holding two circlar rings, one above his head the other at waist level. While appearing mostly nude there are "silk" cords wrapped around his body, expose naval on his rotund belly. A lovely well detailed example showing incredible carving skill, Size: 1.5" W x 3.35" H (3.8 cm x 8.5 cm)
Piece has been tested using XRF analysis and shows a composition of Si 26%-28%, Mg 11%- 15%, Ca 7.7% - 7, Al 2.0% - 2.5%, verifying that it is indeed nephrite jade.
