Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. A hand-built and hollow pottery female figure of a characteristically abstract form known as a pretty lady. Her conical head bears bulging eyes, a slender, perky nose, a grinning mouth, vertical frets and lines on her cheeks, and cupped ears, all beneath a headband decorated with stippling and zigzagging stripes.
