Ancient Near East, Elamite, Bronze Age, 2nd Millennium BCE. A finely rendered terracotta goddess, standing with her hands held under her voluptuous breasts, lavishly adorned with jewelry - bracelets, earrings, and a necklace. In addition, the linear patterns below her abdomen and defined navel as well as the pubic area most likely represent a garment or additional jewelry. Her visage is nicely defined with delicate features and a fringe of bangs topped by an elegant headdress. A striking statue with Sotheby's provenance. Size: 6.25" H (15.9 cm); 7.875" H (20 cm) on included custom stand.
