Ancient Central Asia, Bactria, ca. late 2nd to 1st millennium BCE. A gorgeous and wearable necklace comprised of several carnelian beads, leaded bronze bells, and silver pendants. The 21 leaded bronze bells are strung along the central portions of the necklace and are interspersed with petite carnelian beads that taper in size towards a 94.4% silver medallion stamped with a floral motif on one side and a radiant sun on the verso. Slender tubular carnelian beads accentuate the exterior portions of each end, and a pomegranate-form pendant made from 81% silver hangs as the necklace's central element. Each terminal is capped with modern elements including an ovoid silver bead, a green glass bead, and an S-shaped hook and loop that enable its wearability. A sumptuous example of modern fashion meets ancient art! Size (necklace): 20.125" L (51.1 cm); (largest carnelian bead): 2.31" L x 0.24" W (5.9 cm x 0.6 cm); silver quality: 81% for spherical pendant, and 94.4% for floral medallion

Condition
Wearable as shown and strung in modern times. Leaded bronze bells, carnelian beads, medallion with flowers and sun, and pomegranate pendant are all ancient; ovoid silver beads, green glass beads, and S-shaped hook and loop are modern. Minor nicks to some carnelian beads, with chips, small losses, and encrustations to some bells. Great patina to bells and ancient silver components.
