Central Asia, Bactria-Margiana (BMAC) (Oxus Civilization), ca. 1st millennium BCE. A gorgeous, wearable necklace composed of ancient agate and gold beads on a modern string with a modern gold-plated clasp. 37 agate beads - all creamy white with sharply contrasting dark brown hues, of a variety of different shapes - and 36 tiny gold (81%, equivalent to 18K+) discoid beads have been joined together to create a beautiful series of contrasts - the agate ranges from almost black to an amber-colored glow, each with white and cream-colored banded stripes. The sparkling gold complements the more austere stone. Length of chain: 28" L (71.1 cm); gold beads are 81% (equivalent to 18K+).

Condition
All beads are ancient, but they have been restrung and given a modern clasp. The gold beads have some small deformations but are largely in great condition. The stone beads have some tiny chips and nicks commensurate with age but also are overall in very good condition.
