Ancient Central Asia, modern day Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, Bactria (Bactria Margiana Archaeological Complex / BMAC), ca. 2nd to 1st millennium BCE. A stunning necklace of an elegant and wearable form. The necklace is strung with dozens of mottled green and blue-green stone with beige and dark green inclusions that present in ovoid, circular, and rectangular forms with biconically drilled suspension holes bored through the bodies. Interspersed along the strand are sixteen hollow trapezoidal beads formed from folded sheets of 80% gold (equivalent to 18K+) that glint in the light. Strung in modern times and fastened with a gold-filled loop and French hook combo, this is a fantastic example of ancient art meets modern fashion!
