Audry Cramblit (American, 20th to 21st century), "You Complete Me", clay and pigment, ca. 2000. A mesmerizing sculpture comprised of back-to-back fragmented torsos - one male and one female - finished in rich rose red hues. The title of the piece - "You Complete Me" - may have been inspired by the famous quote from the film "Jerry McGuire". Beyond this, the joining of male and female entities is quite powerful in this work by Cramblit. Size: 8.5" H (21.6 cm); 17" H (43.2 cm) on included custom stand.
In 1993, Audry Cramblit moved to Chicago from Colorado, where she studied at the Colorado Institute of Art. Following this, Cramblit spent 6 years studying classical figurative sculpture at the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Art, Chicago, IL. In addition, Cramblit studied sculpture at The Scottsdale School of Fine Art, Brookgreen Gardens, SC, as well as in Florence, Italy, and Paris, France. Cramblit has continued to share her passion for sculpture by teaching portrait sculpture at the City of Chicago After School Matters program as well as ChiArts, Chicago High School for the Arts, and the Hyde Park Art Center. She teaches adult classes at Palette and Chisel and in her Pilsen studio.
