Magna Graecia, South Italic Colonies, Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A gorgeous, wheel-thrown pottery kylix or wine-drinking cup presenting a flat bottom and thin walls that curve up to a broad, circular rim over a shallow basin, all sitting upon a with a petite discoid foot. A pair of sweeping loop handles project from opposite sides, while a delicate, incised motif of palmettes adorns the central tondo. The entire vessel - save for the central area beneath the foot - is covered in lustrous, jet-black glaze with areas of silvery and rainbow iridescence that imbue it with an elegant presentation characteristic of fine Apulian artistry! Size: 8.7" Diameter x 1.8" H (22.1 cm x 4.6 cm)
