• Lot Description
  Near East / Eastern Mediterranean, Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 100 to 400 CE; Phoenicia or Carthage, ca. 400 BCE to 400 CE; Ancient Egypt to Islamic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 600 CE. A strand of 42 ancient glass beads, composed of 21 large multicolored beads and 21 smaller spacer beads. The larger beads are crafted from marvered and millefiori mosaic glass, formed using the core-form technique. They feature a domed shape with one flat face or are tubular, showcasing a variety of vibrant colors and intricate patterns. The smaller spherical spacer beads display an elegant iridescence in silvery white and golden tones. This versatile collection is ideal for restringing into individual pendants or creating a striking wearable necklace. Size of strand doubled: 14" L (35.6 cm); largest bead: 0.8" L x 0.65" W (2 cm x 1.7 cm)

  Condition

  Strung on a modern cord, and can easily be restrung for wearing. Some have chips and nicks, and weathering as expected with age and exposure to elements.
