Ancient Asia Minor, Western Anatolia, Troy, Yortan culture, ca. 2700 to 2300 BCE. An ensemble of 2 hand-built ceramic jars with round but stable bases and globular bodies. The smaller vessel has a squat neck with a flared rim and a pair of applied lug handles. The larger vessel has a lightly-corseted neck and an arching strap handle. Both vessels are covered with lustrous jet-black pigment. Size of largest (strap handle): 2.125" W x 3.2" H (5.4 cm x 8.1 cm).

Condition
Larger vessel has repair to handle with small chips and light adhesive residue along break line. Both vessels have small nicks and fading to original pigmentation. Light earthen deposits throughout. Smaller vessel has modern blue putty on base, and larger vessel has old inventory number written in black ink on base.
