Estuardo Maldonado (Ecuadoran, b. 1930), untitled, 1965. Signed and dated by the artist on the lower left, an engrossing abstract composition depicting three standing figures, the leftmost possessing two faces that look at one another, the central one with a head facing right, and the rightmost with a head facing left. As a Latin American contemporary artist working in a Constructivist style greatly influenced by Cubism and Futurism, Maldonado's works, for as much as they are modern, also reference sculptural works of the Pre-Columbian world inspired by his roots. Estuardo Maldonado is a Latin American painter and sculptor inspired by the Constructivist movement. In addition, he is a member of VAN (Vanguardia Artística Nacional), the group of Informalist painters also including Aníbal Villacis, Luis Molinari, Hugo Cifuentes, Leon Ricaurte and Gilberto Almeida founded by Enrique Tabara. Maldonado has participated in more than 100 exhibitions outside of his native Ecuador.

Very good overall condition. Signed and dated by the artist on the lower left. Frame is a bit loose, but this could easily be remedied.
