Native American, United States, Southwestern Virginia, Scott, Washington, and Smyth Counties, Transitional Paleo to Mississippian Period, ca. 7500 BCE to 1500 CE (9500 BP to 500 BP). A fabulous ensemble of 77 hand-knapped stone arrowheads exhibiting pentagonal, triangular, isosceles triangular, triangular stemmed, triangular bifurcated, and triangular notched forms. Presenting hues of pink, brown, tan, beige, cream, grey, black, and white, these well-preserved points were made by various cultures of southwestern Virginia. Some of the types in this collection include: Pee Dee, Garden Creek, Ebenezer, Ely's Ford, Calvert, Le Croy, Lake Erie, Nolichucky, Clarksville, Ecusta, Kanawha, Iddens, Potts, Zekiah Swamp, St. Albans, State Farm, MacCorkle, Savage Cave, Autauga, Damron, Rowan, Pigeon, and Holston. Mounted in a modern wooden and glass case. Shifting to a few points within frame. Losses to fines, necks and heads. Nicks/chips to peripheries commensurate with age and use. Otherwise, very nice.
