Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Inuit, Pre-Contact period, ca. 17th to 18th century CE. A collection of 7 tools for sewing clothing and mending nets, all made from fossilized walrus tusk and bone. Included is a slender needle with a piercing for the eye hole. One tool has a large, curved tip like a crochet hook. Two have etched motifs into the surfaces and all have nice signs of use and age. Displayed in Riker case.
